Moh and Best Man: Check!

So my wonderful future sister-in-law has agreed to be my Matron of Honor. This is good because I really like her and want to get to know her better and because she lives right here so she can be more hands-on with everything.

Our wedding party is small. So small it consists of a Best Man and MoH. Thats it! Crazy right? Not really. Our whole wedding is small so why not? It makes it all feel way more personal too.

I am really excited Kimi is great! Her husband Justin is going to be Chris's Best Man. Justin is Chris's older brother. They were married last May. It was a really pretty ceremony and a fun reception. In fact I've stolen some ideas from their wedding to incorporate into ours. Like the whole buffet idea, and not having assigned seating. Our wedding will be smaller than theirs but these ideas make sense for us too!

Also, Chris and I have talked it over and we are not going to do the traditional Bachelor and Bachelorette parties instead because we cannot invite everyone we'd like to our actual wedding we're going to invite a bunch of people out a few weeks before the event to celebrate in lieu of the normal individual girls only/guys only events. We are thinking of just going to Dave & Buster's and having fun!

This picture is of course from Their wedding but this is Justin and Kimi. They make a cute couple yes?

The Little Things and The Big..

I know. This is my third post today. It wont always be like this. I just have a lot on my mind about whats been going on so far. Both the big and the little.

Big things have been taste testing caterers and attending a Bridal show. Which I will talk about but right now I want to talk about the little things. The things you forget you need to do when you are getting married. Chris and I opened joint checking and savings accounts this past Monday. I feel like that was a big deal! We've been splitting our bills for the entire time we've lived together. At least out joint bills we've always paid our loans by ourselves. So getting down to it and finally combining our households like that feels like a big step forward towards really being Married. That more than anything has made it feel real. I don't think we can really do any of the other little things until we are married. I have to then change my name and we will try to combined our car insurance which hopefully will save us both some money (multi-driver/car discounts please and thank you!)

Now to the big things! We set the location which I've mentioned back in January. Since then we've started working on the other pieces of the puzzle that need to come together for the Wedding. We've attended 2 caterer tastings. One for a company called Biscuits and Berries, and another for a company called Occasions by Sandy. Both of which were delicious! So far we are leaning towards Occasions, but my parents would like us to try 2 more before we commit. I agree completely. I'm still thinking Occasions is who we will end up with but who knows.

On Feb 21st we braved a snow storm to go to the Boettcher Mansion for one of their sem-annual Bridal Shows. It was interesting, overwhelming, and informative. We met the DJ we want to use, he is the DJ who works with the Mansion. He was very nice. We met an officiant we liked, which is good because the one we really want cannot do a morning wedding (our event will go from 11am-3pm). I got to taste some cake. Yum! We plan on having a coffee bar during the time between the reception officially starting and the end of the ceremony, so we were able to meet the woman who owns the company. Mmmmm. Its really nice to see local vendors face to face and they were all "preferred vendors" of Boettcher Mansion so it helped us alot, we know they are familiar with the location and how things work there which I liked. We also met a photographer that we need to contact, his prices weren't overboard!

I highly recommend doing this for anyone else getting married in the future. Go to Bridal Shows!!

So many things to do! We have a few months still to go though just over 8 months now until the big day!

Location, Location, Location!

Our entire Wedding is taking place at The Boettcher Mansion on Lookout MT in Golden, CO. It is a beautiful place and is a museum now. It is open on weekdays for you to go up and just look around. There are articles and photos and such on the walls detailing the history of the place.

We plan, weather permitting, to be married outside on the patio. If it works out that way, due to the layout of the patio I'd be entering in from the left side for my walk down the "aisle". Here is an image from January of what it looks like (without all our flowers and the chairs and people)

We would then stand here and the guests would all be angled towards us, the focal point. In Colorado it is known to snow but we have our fingers crossed for a beautiful day. I'd be more worried if it rain though, snow I can handle because it would be light at that time of year and they have heated walk ways so there would be no ice.

The reception would then be inside in the Fireside room. its broken into three parts. The capacity is 150 people. We are expecting no more than 65 guests. So we'll have plenty of room. It is going to be a Brunch Buffet. I know people hear Halloween and think crazy things but we want the children to be able to go trick or treating and we don't want to keep our guests out late on a Sunday when they have work the next day.

This is where the buffet will be setup. The curtains will be down to make it all feel more open as well. The DJ will be setup on the opposite side of the room.

I didn't get anymore photos taken that day. I plan on going up when the weather is nicer and getting better shots of the whole place. I also want to learn more about the place before we hold our celebration there!

A glimpse at Us

Good Morning!

I am an early riser by nature.

Before work today I wanted to share some picture spam so you can see who we are a bit better. I plan on talking about where we are getting married later today.

Chris and I are both in our late twenties. I'm about 6 months older than he is. I grew up in NJ and went to Penn State for college (GO NITTANY LIONS!). I moved here a few months after graduating for a change of scenery and to see what Colorado had to offer me. It's turned out quite nice if you ask me. I don't make a lot of money but I've found the love of my life!

Chris grew up out here. He went to ITT Tech and has an associates in 3D Modeling and Animation. He is starting to get into working on his portfolio. I wish him all the luck its a very time consuming thing. I know he'd love to work in his career choice one of these days though.

This was taken in Nov of 2007 at a friends birthday party. At this point we'd been together for almost a year. As I mentioned before we met at work. We both started working in June of 06 for our current employer and on Dec 16th we started dating. So he actually proposed on our 3 year anniversary. ^_^

This is from the Spring of 2008 at Eldorado Canyon State Park here in Colorado. We love hiking when we can and this place is really close by to where we live. Its fun to go and watch the rock climbers and explore the hiking trails.

This is the newest addition to our family. Meet Higgins! He joined us in June of 2009. We adopted him, well actually we basically rescued him, from the life of being a barn cat where life is short to the nice life of being an indoor house cat. When Chris proposed he put the ring on Higgins' collar and planned on sending him in to wake me up. Of course that didn't work out because I woke up on my own and then was too tired to realize what was going on (I rise early but I don't register anything until I have coffee). It was really sweet when Chris spelled it all out to me.

The ring he got me was his mothers so its sentimental. I don't normally like yellow gold but its so pretty and it means a lot to us so I'm happy to wear it. ^_^ It is currently being resized because his mother has really tiny fingers. I think it was 5.25 size! so its going up almost 2 sizes as I type this. If you are on a budget using a family ring is really the way to go. The cost of resizing this ring at Kay Jewelers was about 60 dollars. If you have the money then go for what she'll love since its her ring but if you know someone you can get a ring from the sentiment is just as nice and the price way less. ^_^

A few more shots of us. This was from the Colorado Renn Faire in July of 09. We love to try and go every year if we can.

And finally.. an engagement present from two of my dear friends Shayne and Aparna. Chris and I plan on saving it for either our Wedding or our One year Anniversary. It isn't often someone puts your face on a champagne bottle!

*Waves*

Hello All!

So I've been milling around about starting a blog on here for a while but I wanted to have something worth writing about otherwise who would bother reading right?

Anyway I got engaged on Dec 16th of 2009!! Yay for me! We set the date for Oct 31, 2010. So less than a year from our engagement. (Yikes!). On that day I will become a Green (hence the name of the Blog.. me trying to be humorous).

We've been really busy trying to get this thing planned so that we aren't stressing later and yet its already stressful so I need to vent (and of course gush!) about it somewhere so why not on a blog?

Much more to come as things happen. I just want to start off by introducing myself and tell you a little more about myself and my future hubby. ^_^

My name is Leah, but you can call me Ling Ling, his name is Christopher. Everyone calls him Chris though. We've been together for a little over 3 years now. We met not long after I moved to Colorado from NJ (boy was that a change!). We actually work together. I know a lot of people don't believe in mixing work and relationships but it really flows well for us. We started here at the same time but our paths have taken different directions so we really don't interact all that much during the day when we are working (except through the messanger program that we chat via).

It was my idea to get married on Halloween. It is my favorite holiday. Its fun and a festive time of year and now we will ALWAYS have plans on halloween ^_^.

We've been dealing with all the normal stuff, caterers, djs, cakes, locations the whole crazy mess. The only things set so far are the DJ (though not completely we haven't got the contract yet) and the location (which has been signed and deposit made).

My parents are doing the traditional thing of holding the purse strings but Chris and I are going to try and help where we can because our overall budget isn't that big.

There is so much we need to do that I never realized. So I'm sure I'll be on here regularly ranting and raving and gushing as everything finally comes together! If this works out I plan to continue with this blog after the Wedding to discuss my experiences being married and planning for the future, we still need to buy a house and eventually we want to have a family! This blog is strictly from my own experiences and so I wouldn't call myself an expert on anything I talk about it is simply my life as I know it!
